Year 9 Options

Choosing your Year 9 Options is an exciting moment in your Penrice journey. It’s your chance to start shaping a pathway that reflects who you are, what you enjoy and where you want to go next. At Penrice, we’re here to guide and inspire you every step of the way.

Your Future Starts Here

Our Options process is designed to help you make confident, informed decisions about the subjects you’ll study in Years 10 and 11. These choices form the foundation of your GCSEs and, ultimately, the opportunities you’ll have at college, in apprenticeships and beyond.

We know that every student is unique. That’s why we offer a broad and balanced curriculum. Whether you’re passionate about the arts, or eager to explore business, technology or sport, there is a pathway that fits your ambitions. Students and families are encouraged to watch the video below and then download the Year 9 Options E-Brochure available at the bottom of this webpage.

Year 9 Progress and Options Evening

Save the Date: Thursday 26th March 2026

This year we are running a joint Progress and Options Evening for Year 9. This will enable parents and carers to discuss current progress with subject teachers whilst also learning more about the GCSE courses that students will begin studying in Key Stage 4.

Core subjects that your child will continue to study beyond Key Stage 3 will require booked appointments. These subjects are English, Maths, Science, MFL, Geography and History.

All other subjects will have dedicated areas where students and parents/carers can speak with subject staff, ask questions and find out more about the courses on offer before making their final choices.  A map will be provided on the evening so that you are fully informed of where subjects areas will be based.

The booking system will open at 6.00pm on Thursday 19 March and will close at 12 noon on Thursday 26 March.
