A warm welcome to the Penrice Academy Transition Hub for families of students joining us in September 2026. We’ll be regularly updating this website area throughout the transition process, so if you think there’s anything you’ve missed, then you can always check here first.

The Start of a New Chapter
Welcome! Moving from primary to secondary school is an exciting milestone. But it’s also completely natural for both children and parents/carers to feel a mix of emotions. As a parent, you may feel proud that your child is growing up, while also feeling a little sad to see their primary school days come to an end. Whatever you and your child are feeling, it’s valid. This transition is a big step, and no two families experience it in exactly the same way.
At Penrice Academy, we’re here to support you every step of the journey. Our community is built on our core values of Pride, Respect and Success, and these sit at the heart of everything we do – especially when welcoming our newest students.
Getting to Know You and Your Child
We place a strong emphasis on the partnership between school, home and students, knowing that when we work together, we give every young person the best possible chance to thrive. Between now and September, we are excited to get to know you and your child as they begin their step up to Penrice Academy. Throughout the summer term, there will be opportunities for you and your child to visit us and meet key members of staff. You will quickly discover that Penrice is a caring and friendly place where you will feel supported and valued.
Save the Date: Welcome Day & Welcome Evening
Tuesday 7th July is a key date for your diary when our Welcome Day and Evening takes place. During your child’s Welcome Day, they will spend time with their new Year 7 tutors, experience some sample lessons, and get to know other students who will be in their year group. The whole day is designed to help them start feeling confident about life at Penrice.
Later in the day, families are also invited to our Welcome Evening, where they will meet the Senior Leadership Team, Form Tutors and other key staff. This is a great chance to learn more about Penrice and you'll receive plenty of information and resources ahead of fully starting with us in September. Specific information about this event and timings will be shared over the coming months.
