Year 8 Go For It in 2020! On Tuesday 21st January, Year 8 students took part in a variety of workshops across the school, to gain experience in different industries and test out their skills, taking the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the world of work. Over 20 occupational sectors were represented with professional from industries like Coodes Solicitors to Penndennis super yacht builders, a theatre company, professional dancers to Software Engineering and a chef and hospitality staff from Carlyon Bay Hotel! Guests and activities inspired our students throughout the morning and encouraged them to try new experiences and consider occupations that they may never have thought about before. The day is an element of our school’s Careers Programme, supporting our Year 8 students at the beginning of their Options process, giving them the ideal opportunity to consider all kinds of different industries available to them when they leave Penrice in year 11. Our new Careers Lead, Lorraine Turner said, “Every year our GO 4 IT Event gives Year 8 a fantastic insight into the world of work. The students really embraced the day, they asked questions and threw themselves into the activities and got so much from the event”.
