Year 7 Get Extreme with their Reading

Last term our English Department set Year 7 the challenge of submitting a photo reading in the most unusual location, position or situation, as part of the national Extreme Reading initiative. And we have been wowed by the response.

Mr Johnson said: “Year 7 – your imagination is truly inspiring! We have seen some fabulous submissions – trampolines, diggers, reading with animals, hanging from a washing line… your ideas are brilliant and have been performed sensibly and maturely. Well done!”

Hannah from Year 7 said of her book: “I chose to be photographed reading one of my favourite books – Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. Though I find the book sad to read, due to the unfair treatment of horses within the 19th century, I really enjoy the fact that the book is written from Black Beauty’s perspective.”

Extreme reading is a great opportunity for our Year 7s to celebrate their love of reading, be imaginative and have some fun.
