Year 11 meet Employers at the Apprenticeship Show, Exeter On 29th January a group of Year 11’s and staff went to the National Apprenticeship Show at Westpoint, Exeter. The show bought students together from schools across the Cornwall and Devon region to meet with employers and training providers offering all levels of Apprenticeships from intermediate, advanced, higher and degree. Our students had been prepared for the event by attending a pre- show workshop, working on updating their existing CV’s to give to employers, planning which exhibitors they would visit at the event and the questions they would ask. Lorraine Turner Careers Lead said, “This was a valuable opportunity for all students to meet the employers first hand to discuss application processes directly, what the employer had to offer and how these could match their career aspirations. The preparation was a major part of the activity as it really encouraged our students to think about how their CV’s could be enhanced, how researching the employers helped develop their questions and understanding of the opportunities on offer and how to communicate in a professional environment”.
