Two New Furry Arrivals on Penrice Farm

As if the Penrice Academy Farm couldn’t get any better… this term we have welcomed two new, furry additions!

Students have visited the farm in numbers during break and lunch this week to visit our two farm cats/kittens. They have both been introduced to the large animals this week and love playing with Delphi the dog.

Year 7 tutor groups were invited to suggest names for the two tortoiseshell girls with Miss Harding making the final decision. Today, we are delighted to share the news that our adorable kittens have been named Dora (pink collar) and Daphne (blue collar).

The Farm plays an integral part of school life here at Penrice. It offers our students (and staff) a place to relax, reset and escape, be it from pressures in school or outside of school. As with all our farm animals, these kittens have been chosen as a great way of building confidence and self-esteem in our students. Pets are a great form of therapy and our farm animals provide emotional support through calm interactions to students that need it

Our culture of Penrice Respect is of utmost importance on The Farm. We make sure that the students interact calmly and understand how important it is to make the kittens feel safe and secure.
