Local Children’s Author Visits Penrice

Thank you to local children’s author Tina Barrott who visited Penrice on Monday to inspire a group of Penrice students.

In an hour-long workshop, Tina talked students through both the creative writing and illustrating processes of producing children’s books, as well as her pathway to becoming a published author.

Mrs Hague [pictured left], Reading Champion and Penrice Library Manager, explained:

“Tina entertained the group with stories of how the local wildlife has inspired her to write stories for children. The students learned how books are written and illustrated, in preparation for a further visit when they have a go at writing a children’s story themselves!”

Mrs Hunter-Craig, SEND Teacher and Reading/Communication Lead at Penrice, said:

“I feel that meeting a real author in the flesh has increased our students’ interest in books, helped them understand how books are produced, boosted their confidence and has inspired them to write. I think Tina has made a lasting impression with her charming stories on the local wildlife!”
