Star Students: Year 11 Awards On Wednesday 23rd March we held our annual Year 11 Awards, celebrating the achievements of those students who have gone above and beyond in particular subjects, awarding an ambassador for each subject and celebrating, with their families in the audience, their time with us at school. Awards were based not only on contributions in individual subjects and learning, but also in extracurricular events and to the wider school community. Mr Wood, Head of Year 11, told the students: “I remember you all from first meeting you in Year 8. You’ve changed so much, you’ve achieved so much. Tonight is about you – well done everyone for all your work in your years here at Penrice.” As well as individual subject awards, Mrs Adams presented Inclusion Awards to Bradley Whitehead and Jessica Robinson for their achievements in the Learning Centre and Learning Inclusion Centre, and Mr Wood handed Head of Year awards to Head Students Jack Lawther and Isobel May, and deputy Ben Webley for his incredible work as a Prefect. Mr Baker’s Principal’s Award went to Deputy Head Girl, Maddie Wood. Mr Baker said of Maddie: “Maddie is a phenomenal student. She is absolutely everywhere. She helps in every area of school life and her constant smile lights up the school. She is the face you want to see when you arrive here and she is the perfect ambassador for Penrice.” Thank you to everyone who helped put together this important evening. Star Students: Mr Brown’s Boys This week’s other Star Students are Brett, Jake, David, Jordan and Ethan, who form part of our Light and Sound Team – better known as Mr Brown’s Boys. If you ever pass through the hall during assemblies, evening events, rehearsals or school productions, you’ll see them at the back manning the desks and ensuring everything runs smoothly. Big thank you to them for their hard work this term.
