Star Student: Denzil, Year 9

Meet Denzil – Year 9’s Shooting Champion.

Denzil has had a fantastic year.

Following on from his selection by British Shooting to be put on their Talent Pathway earlier this year, he’s been winning multiple local competitions. He competed at the British Grand Prix at Uttoxeter, where he came first in his class, and overall 16th in Olympic Skeet.

He travels to Woking every month to train with the GB coach and some of the athletes and has coaching locally by multi-medallist, Countess Pinky Le Grelle at her estate near Bodmin.

This year he also received his first County Cap.

In the last few weeks Denzil’s been to Somerset to shoot for Cornwall English skeet team in the South West Intercounty Championships, Combined South West Championship, alongside his team mate, he won the Junior Team event.

Cornwall won overall and Denzil had a winning score of 97 out of 100, making him South West Junior Champion. He’s also Cornwall County Champion and he was only 2 targets away from winning overall southern county!

He is looking forward to success next month in his first international competition, the Spanish Grand Prix, Olympic Skeet.
