Sport Report: 04/03/2016

It has been another week badly affected by the weather with the majority of the Boys Football and all of the Girls Netball unfortunately succumbing to the bad weather, there is however still Girls Hockey and Boys Football to report on this week plus a look ahead to a busy week of cup fixtures next week.

On Thursday the Y7 girls travelled to Penair for their County Hockey tournament, the girls had an excellent day making it to the quarter finals. The girls played some fantastic hockey in the pool stages of the tournament convincingly winning against Redruth, Penryn B and Newquay Tretheras. They also put up a good fight against a very strong Truro School side. Penrice as a result of their earlier victories, earned a well deserved spot in the quarter finals against Penryn however, after earlier convincingly beating their B team, this time it was their A team. Penrice fought hard in this final game defending resolutely and even carving out their own chances however couldn’t get the goal they needed eventually losing 0-2.  The girls had a fantastic day and Hockey continues to grow and improve. The most valuable player for the day was voted for by the girls and was awarded to Emily Hoskin.

Penrice vs Penryn B: Won 5-0
Penrice vs Truro School: Lost 0-4
Penrice vs Redruth: Won 5-0
Penrice vs Newquay Tretheras: Won 3-0
Quarter finals: Penrice vs Penryn B: Lost 2-0
MVP – E Hoskin.
On Tuesday 26 Y7 boys made the short journey to Poltair for Football matches and opportunities for 20 out of the 26 to represent Penrice for the first time. Two excellent matches took place which was enjoyed by all, despite a strong wind both Penrice and Poltair played some excellent Football. The B team lost 4-2, with Eliot Swift the most valuable player after notching both goals and the C team drew an exhilarating game 3-3 with Tom Yeung the most valuable player for an excellent solo goal and some great work in midfield. These sides will meet each other again in three weeks this time at Penrice.
