Scholarship Spotlight This academic year we launched a new scholarship programme to push the most academically able and give them greater opportunities to develop further. Read on as we hear from Ms Coleman, Deputy Headteacher, who explains the recent happenings for our scholars. Words by: Ms Coleman Deputy Headteacher at Penrice Academy We have welcomed a plethora of different visitors over the last term as part of our scholarship program. Cambridge University came in to lead a workshop with some of our Year 11s and our Year 8 scholarship group. Rosie, from the Downing College campus, gave a real insight into university life and why Cambridge should be a very real option for our students. Rose from Cambridge University (Downing College Campus) Cambridge University was quickly followed by Imperial College London, they came to work with our Year 10 Scientists, giving a presentation in the Hall about the research work they are currently doing in partnership with Cancer Research. Two groups of students then went on to undertake a microscope workshop with the Imperial Team, they were given some research homework for which there will be a prize giving in the very near future. It is a relationship that we hope to embed for many years to come with future visits to these institutions planned.
