We have welcomed a plethora of different visitors over the last term as part of our scholarship program. Cambridge University came in to lead a workshop with some of our Year 11s and our Year 8 scholarship group. Rosie, from the Downing College campus, gave a real insight into university life and why Cambridge should be a very real option for our students.

Cambridge University was quickly followed by Imperial College London, they came to work with our Year 10 Scientists, giving a presentation in the Hall about the research work they are currently doing in partnership with Cancer Research. Two groups of students then went on to undertake a microscope workshop with the Imperial Team, they were given some research homework for which there will be a prize giving in the very near future.

It is very exciting for Penrice to have two of the three leading universities in the world working with our students and driving future aspirations. It is a relationship that we hope to embed for many years to come with future visits to these institutions planned.

Medics Society

We are also very proud of our newest Penrice Plus ‘Medics Society’ which we are running in conjunction with Exeter University Medical School. Students can attend a series of lectures run by the Medical School students which give an insight into the life of a doctor, last week’s focus was ‘Medical Ethics’.

In addition, we have launched our own in-house scholarship programs in Year 8, 9 and 10. More details to follow in the coming weeks!
