Penrice Remembers 2016

On the morning of Friday 11th November 2016, Penrice staff and students came together in the garden for our annual Service of Remembrance.

Students from all years and a variety of organisations – from Scouts and Guides to Army and Sea Cadets – paid their respects to service men and women lost in combat around the world, dressed in full uniform.

The service began with a two minute silence at 11am, followed by The Last Post, performed by Lia from Year 8 for the second year running.

Mr Johnson, who organised the service, told the students: “Every year I say this and every year I am more proud of you lot – it takes real courage to turn up dressed very differently from everyone else and to represent your individual groups all day with pride and maturity. You are doing your organisations, your school and your community proud this morning.”

The staff and students then took turns to lay crosses by the memorial, with individual messages written by Tutor Groups across the school promising to ‘never forget’, to ‘always love those we have lost’ and some simply saying ‘thank you.’
