Penrice Celebrates ‘Best Results Ever’

On Thursday 25th August 2016, our students celebrated what is the best set of GCSE results in the history of Penrice Academy.

72% of our students achieved 5 A*-Cs including English and Maths, with 90% achieving A*-C in English and 78% achieving A*-C in Maths.

Despite national reforms to exams, Penrice Academy has managed to achieve above and beyond previous outstanding results.

More than 55% of our students achieved A* and A in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Our Catering and Hospitality department builds on their successful year after Year 9’s Madi Cole was crowned Winner at the South West’s Regional Future Chef competition, with 47% of students achieving As and A*s.

ICT also achieved brilliant results with 50% As and A*s.

Receiving their results students were visibly overwhelmed and thrilled.

Head Girl Isabel May achieved a phenomenal 11 As and A*s, alongside representing the school as a Senior Prefect and member of the Academy Council.

Isabel said: “I am so happy. I’ve been excited, nervous, anxious for weeks but I am ecstatic after today. I didn’t expect to do quite so well so I feel really confident about what’s to come.”

Ben Webley, who was also a Senior Prefect for his final year at Penrice Academy, achieved 10 As and A*s. He said: “I’m quite shocked really, I did work hard but I’m so pleased with what I got – it’s opened so many doors for me.”

Both Isabel and Ben achieved A*s in all 3 of the sciences.

Penrice Academy Principal, Richard Baker, said: “I am absolutely delighted for the students at Penrice. Today is a testament not only to the hard work and dedication they have put in over their five years with us, but the fantastic relationships they have with all staff at the Academy.”

“They should be incredibly proud of themselves. They can leave Penrice knowing that their results are the best we have ever seen.”

“This year we made significant improvements to our teaching strategy, with students immersing themselves in high quality lessons. We have also put an emphasis on inspiring and celebrating attendance and progress, which has really paid off.”

“A huge well done and thank you to our dedicated staff who have gone above and beyond this year for our students.”
