National Citizen Service (NCS) encourage Year 11’s to join them in 2020 We have seen our students have amazing experiences on the NCS programme over the years at Penrice and the NCS team joined us on 27th January to tell all of our current year 11’s all about this years opportunity. The government funded programme is open to all 15, 16 and 17 year olds across the country and takes place in the summer holidays over 4 weeks. NCS is a part-residential experience focused around fun and discovery, with 30 hours committed to your team’s ‘Make a Difference’ project. Students work in teams of twelve to fifteen, meeting new people from different backgrounds. NCS is something that is recognised by employers and UCAS as a way to develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills. The programme will be run by Young People Cornwall; last year they gave 165 students from Truro and St Austell the NCS experience. The team will be visiting tutor groups and have drop in clinics during break times throughout February and March to answer students questions and help with applications.
