Music Festival 2018

Once again Penrice Academy musicians represented their school at St Austell’s Music Festival, coming away with a fantastic number of awards and top recognition.

Mr Jones said: “As always we are extremely proud of the students who took part in this year’s Music Festival. I was really impressed with the number of first and second places that were awarded to our young musicians and of course we couldn’t do it without our wonderful instrumental teachers Mrs Farley and Mrs Frost.”

Awards:

Sophia– Berceuse by Faure (1st Place)

Harry – from Concerto in G by Vivaldi

Holly – Over the Rainbow (1st Place)

Owain – Afloat by Adam Corse

Mahala – The Boat to Inverie

Katie – Minuet by Telemann

Samara – Flute duet

Freya – – Flute duet

Daisy – Flute duet and solo

Mia, Beth and Ashleigh – all played flute in solo classes and all three won their respective duet classes!

Niamh won all her classes – Treble recorder solo, Woodwind duet (clarinet), Woodwind solo (grades 3 & 4), Piano solo (grade 2). She also won the cup for highest solo woodwind mark, and another cup for the highest solo piano mark (grades 1 & 2).

Elizabeth, along with Mia, Beth, Ashleigh, Freya and Samara, won the Woodwind Ensemble (school age) as part of Farley’s Flutes.

Beth won a vocal duet and Daisy won a vocal solo!
