Sell-Out Crowds Enjoy Matilda Jr.

Our school production of Matilda Jr. took to the stage last week in three sell-out performances on the 14th, 15th and 16th March! Full to the brim with catchy songs and high energy dance numbers, audiences gave standing ovations every night.

The story centres on Matilda, a young girl with wit and intelligence far beyond her years. She outsmarts the mean Miss Trunchbull and leads the children of Crunchem Hall School to victory. Matilda Jr. follows hot off the back of the success of Mary Poppins in 2022.

The cast and crew have worked incredibly hard, committing almost 90 hours since rehearsals began back in September, and let’s not forget the hard work of the set design team! This commitment was rewarded with an after-show party and awards ceremony on Friday afternoon where students were presented with their much sought-after Matilda 2023 pin badges.

School productions are community events and we are hugely grateful to the students, staff and parents who have supported this production, as well as the audiences who filled the hall each night. We are very grateful for the Penrice parent community who have made Matilda Jr possible. Whether it be attending the shows over the past three nights, prop donations, or numerous late pick ups of your children who may have been on stage, backstage, or in the set design team, it wouldn’t be possible without your help.
