LEAP Towards Penrice

LEAP Towards Penrice Academy delivers an enrichment experience for our local primary school pupils.

The LEAP programme is designed to support Primary schools to deliver a good breadth of foundation subjects, with content embedded in the Primary curriculum, through the delivery of high quality sessions, therefore enriching the experience of the pupils. The programme enables pupils from years 4 and 5 to familiarise themselves with the secondary school setting and develop a sound knowledge and understanding of a variety of curriculum areas.

The programme involves sending two teachers from selected curriculum areas (ranging from history, geography, art, drama, music, MFL and iMedia) to go into Primary schools and deliver bespoke, cross- curricular sessions based on the Primary school’s KS2 curriculum. Following this, the Academy invites the schools in for two separate immersive days of learning (one for Year 4 and one for Year 5) in which pupils explore a variety of curriculum areas based on a thematic experience.  The programme not only develops the pupils’ knowledge and understanding of a range of foundation subjects but also aids with transition, allowing them to familiarise themselves with Penrice Academy.
