COVID-19 Student Testing Firstly, from all of us at Penrice can we pass on a huge thank you for all your support regarding COVID testing and your child’s safe return to school. It has been an incredible effort and the students have been an absolute credit to the school and yourselves. We have had a fantastic take up across the school for testing and this included the year groups coming in over the weekend. It was an absolute pleasure to witness ‘Team Penrice’ at its very best. Student Home Testing As the students complete their final in school test we will issue them with a home testing kit, along with a step-by-step guide of how to administer the test. The packs will include 7 tests in total. Once your child takes the test kit, it means you’re consenting to the test being administered at home. With the test and booklet will be a letter describing the home testing process and including the students UPN number. Tests should be completed every Wednesday and Sunday evening starting from Wednesday 8 September. It is anticipated that home testing will continue, twice per week, until the end of September. Please remind your child not to eat or drink 30 minutes before they take their test. Reporting Results The guidebook will take you through each step and detail how to record your result on the government website www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result. Details are located on page 15 of the booklet. Please also report your result to the school using the Student Home Testing Results form and entering your child’s unique UPN number, detailed at the top of the letter issued to each student with the test pack. Please note if you have more than one child at Penrice Academy, you will need to complete one form per child. The link to the form can be found in the letter that was sent out with the packs. Register a Test Result Register Result with Penrice AcademyRegister Result on gov.uk Website What if my child tests positive? Positive results should be communicated to our school attendance officer Emily Bennett via the absence line 01726 72163 option 1 or ebennett@penrice.org.uk. Following a positive test result, you will then need to confirm the result and take a PCR test. These are available at your local test centre and further details are available in the guidebook.
