COVID-19 Student Testing

Due to the recent announcement that all schools will be re-opening fully on 8th March and our decision to stagger the start in order for adequate testing to take place for all staff and students, we would now like to invite students in to be tested three times for COVID-19 prior to returning to school.

Testing will be carried out at the Academy using a lateral flow device test kit. Letters detailing the testing arrangements for each year group as well as an overall schedule can be found in the downloads below.

Please watch the video below in which Vice Principal Mr Cardigan guides you through the testing process:

Further information about the test can be found in the ‘Testing Process’ document in the Downloads section below.

Asymptomatic (AST) Student Home Testing

As the students complete their 3rd in school test we will issue them with a home testing kit, along with a step-by-step guide of how to administer the test. The 2 packs will include 6 tests in total. Once your child takes the test kit, it means you’re consenting to the test being administered at home.  With the test and booklet will be a letter describing the home testing process and including the students UPN number.

Tests should be completed every Sunday and Wednesday evening. Please remind your child not to eat or drink 30 minutes before they take their test.

Asymptomatic (AST) Home Testing Start Dates:

Year 8, 9, 10 and 11 – Sunday 14th March 2021

Year 7 – Wednesday 17th March 2021

The guidebook will take you through each step and detail how to record your result on the government website www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result. Details are located on page 15 of the booklet.

Please also report your result to the school using the Student Home Testing Results form and entering your child’s unique UPN number, detailed at the top of the letter issued to each student with the test pack. Please note if you have more than one child at Penrice Academy, you will need to complete one form per child. The link to the form can be found in the letter that was sent out with the packs.

Additionally positive results should be communicated to our school attendance officer Emily Bennett via the absence line 01726 72163 option 1 or ebennett@penrice.org.uk.

Following a positive test result, you will then need to confirm the result and take a PCR test. These are available at your local test centre and further details are available in the guidebook.

If you have further questions regarding this process please do email – enquiries@penrice.org.uk
