Arts Trip to London

Words by: Mr Brodey
Music Teacher at Penrice Academy

“We have been lighting up London with these little stars who have all been enthralled and enchanted by the charm of the Big Smoke! We’ve had a fantastic couple of days sightseeing the famous landmarks and emerging ourselves in creative, city culture.

Tuesday’s highlights included exploring the Tate Modern, riding the London Eye, cruising on the Thames and experiencing an amazing performance of Wicked.

On Wednesday, we had an inspiring interactive workshop at the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square followed by relaxing retail therapy in Leicester Square and Covent Garden. We delved into history at the British Museum and followed this with a hilarious performance of The Play That Goes Wrong. We even managed to snag backstage entry and a photo with some of the cast!

We can’t wait to carry on our jam-packed week with today’s royalty-themed excursions. First of all we get up close and personal, rubbing shoulders with the stars at Madame Tussauds and then a walk down the Mall to spot the King at Buckingham Palace! I wonder which stars we will see tonight when visiting The Vaudeville Theatre to see Six.

We cannot wait!”

All Things Creative

Our students are bursting with creativity in All Things Creative!

Over the past few days they have enjoyed sketching, created blackout poetry, made perler beads, done rock painting, tried their hand at nature art, prepped the Year 9 yard and decorated the school with some eye-catching street art!

Year 7 at Adrenaline Quarry

It was the perfect day for thrill seekers at Adrenaline Quarry where a group of our Year 7s enjoyed an aquapark, go-karting and ziplining!

Year 7 Visit the Roller Rink

Did someone say Roller Disco???!!

A group of our Year 7 students had great fun at Rollers Roller Rink today, enjoying the first day of an action-packed week!

Isles of Scilly

Our students have arrived safely in the Isles of Scilly. The crossing over was ‘interesting’ with huge waves battering the boat which made for a very tough voyage with plenty of seasick students counting down the minutes until the safety of St Marys! We were super-impressed with how all students and teachers supported each other on the rough seas.

Upon arrival, the clouds parted and the sun broke through which helped with the recovery! Tents went up with ease and, after dinner, students had their first splash about in the sea whilst everyone acclimatised to Scilly life.

On Sunday, our students headed to Tresco. After a short boat trip, they headed straight for the subtropical Abbey Gardens where birds and squirrels happily ate from hands! After the gardens, the students headed to the more sheltered side of the island where crystal clear waters and white sands resulted in another impromptu water fight and lounging session on the beach before heading back to camp!

Barcelona

The Barcelona Trip departed over the weekend and they are pictured here on the beach late on Sunday afternoon.
