Hundreds Attend Joint-School Careers Fair

Thank you to all of the exhibitors who gave their time during last night’s Joint-School Careers Fair, hosted at Poltair School. Open to Year 10 & 11, this was the first Careers Fair since pre-Covid in 2019 and the Poltair School Hall was full of hustle and bustle as families attended in great numbers. The event was a great opportunity for students and their parents/carers to meet a wide range of employers and talk about the kinds of careers and opportunities they can offer our students when they leave us at the end of Year 11.

We couldn’t have done it without you…

We have lots of exhibitors to thank, but you all played your part brilliantly! Thanks go to:

Views from the Careers Lead

Mrs Lorraine Turner
Careers Lead at Penrice and Poltair

“I would like to give a big thank you to all our exhibitors, staff and guests at last night’s event. Our students, parents and staff all enjoyed visiting stands and being able to discuss careers with employers and explore the skills and qualifications they will need to become successful adults in the workplace.

With all colleges and sixth forms in the region and experts in Higher Education from Next Steps South West, Exeter and Plymouth Universities, everything was truly accessible under one roof!

Thank you to everyone for their time and the enthusiasm they bought to the busy hall, there was a really positive buzz in the room all night.”

Parent Feedback

Layla

“My daughter and I had a great time. I was jealous of the opportunities young people have today that I didn’t get as a child. There was SO much information and all delivered professionally and very friendly. We had a lovely evening and I wish we could do it all again.”

Amanda

“It was a fantastic evening – so well organised. My daughter is now keen to explore engineering which is something she never considered before. Really good event for opening the eyes of our young people. All the stalls were great and I was particularly impressed with the two young apprentices of Pendennis Shipyard. They spoke pleasantly and passionately about what they do. I was also really interested to hear of the journey so far of Cornish Lithium. Really good evening!”
