Autumn Music at Penrice

‘To achieve great things, two things are needed; a plan and not quite enough time!’ – Leonard Bernstein

The Autumn Term has been very successful for Penrice Music and I find myself feeling very proud of our young musicians. Our performances have included the Performing Arts Showcase, The St Austell Festival of Music, two Gig In The Garden lunchtime concerts, a Future Stars recording session at St Austell College and of course the fantastic Winter Concert.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the newly-formed Music Council who have been absolutely brilliant at supporting me in organising these events. I couldn’t have hoped for a more enterprising group of musicians to work with.

Learning an Instrument

We’ve had a number of students starting to learn an instrument for the first time with three of our instrumental teachers now fully booked! However, we are looking to expand and bring in new teachers to offer lessons to those on waiting lists so do please contact me if you would like your child to have lessons starting in January. Don’t forget that students who qualify for Free School Meals, are looked after or with a parent in the Armed Services qualify for FREE lessons!

Looking forward to next term, we have more recording sessions for the Future Stars CD, a performance as part of The Big Sing, a performance at The Hubtravaganza in Hall for Cornwall and of course a small orchestra performing in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. We’re also hoping to spend a morning with St Mewan’s young musicians rehearsing and recording an orchestral performance of Night On A Bare Mountain – watch this space!
