Youth Speaks 2017

On Tuesday 21st February, our Year 9 Youth Speaks Team of Natalie Eggleton, Kayleigh Pytel and Shannon Oliver came first in the District Final in Tavistock, having also won the first heat of the Rotary competition at Penrice Academy before Half Term!

The Rotary Club encourages speaking and presentation skills in young people and this competition showcases quality speakers, who discuss topics from fracking to feminism.

Mr Larham said: “I am really proud of how the girls handled the competition, speaking about some challenging topics and presenting confidently to their audience.”

The team were awarded certificates and book tokens for £10 each and will now go on to represent the area for the Regional Final at College of St Mark and St John in Plymouth in March.
