Years 7 and 8 Film in the Jungle!

On Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st May, 70 students from Year 7 and Year 8 at Penrice Academy took part in two days of filming with CBBC, right in the heart of the Rainforest Biome at the Eden Project.

The students, led by Penrice staff and the production team from Pretzel TV, who create content for CBBC, were tasked with Lip Syncing a mix of jungle themed songs, including Guns ‘N’ Roses’ Welcome to the Jungle, Fall Out Boy’s cover of I Wanna Be Like You, Paradise by Coldplay and Katy Perry’s Roar. The final video will be broadcast on Friday 3rd June as part of the CBBC Official Chart Show and BBC Music Day, live from the Eden Project.

Monday saw Year 7 on safari hunting the source of the ‘roar’ that came from deep inside the jungle and marching in their jungle tribes, and on Tuesday the face paint artists of the Year 8 group transformed their friends into jungle creatures, while ‘Queen of the Jungle’ Bella filmed the finale on one of the platforms overlooking the canopy. The students also had an opportunity to explore the Eden Project while not on set.

Millie Lloyd, who helped the students through all their shots, told them: “You guys have been brilliant! To film what you have in the time you have, and to work as hard as you have in rainforest conditions has been so impressive – you’re all natural stars!”

Josh, Emily, Cali and Bella then returned on Friday 3rd June to appear live on the CBBC Official Chart Show!

A huge well done to the students for representing their school, their county and the Eden Project brilliantly, and thank you to Eden Team and CBBC for having us.
