Year 6 Maths Olympics Day On Friday 13th March, Penrice held its fourth Year 6 Maths Olympics’ Day with a record number of seven local primary schools participating. In total 12 teams were entered, with 47 Year 6 pupils tackling a variety of events to test their maths skills and team work. The teams from Bishop Bronscombe, Luxuylan, Pondhu, Carclaze, Mevagissey, St Mewan and Treverbyn were judged on their efforts and participation in three events: Round 1: Greek Plate Design Round 2: Practical Team Challenges Round 3: Team Relay Race Mrs Johns, Teacher of Mathematics, said: “This is a day I look forward to every year and this year truly exceeded my expectations. It was lovely seeing all the different primary schools working together on the challenging activities.” Thirteen Year 10 students were also on hand throughout the day to give advice and ensure the day’s success: Rhy Johns, Alex Pearce, Charlotte Breee, Freddie Harrison, April Talbot, Isabel May, Teri Trevains, Abi Semmens, Flo Strookman, Jess Satterwaite, Emma Blandford, Alice Bonds, Kate Jenkins, Jay Fenn and Ellie Chiswell. Mrs Johns continued: “I was so proud of our Year 10s; they ensured all the visiting Year 6 pupils were made to feel welcome and motivated them to achieve.
