Year 10s Explore Architecture

On Tuesday 24th February, six Year 10 students from Penrice experienced the subject of Architecture at a Taster Day at Bodmin College.

Liam Gennis, Rhys Johns, Tom Perry, Bailey Cannon, Marco Barressi and Emily Carr took part in a busy and exciting day, which involved interactive and practical workshops and advice from a university student and teachers. Alongside other students from Bodmin and Fowey, they were tasked with designing a new café for Bodmin College, creating 2D design sheets and 3D models.

A Penrice team of students emerged joint winners on the final design, judged by Ian Armstrong, who is Director at ARC02, the leading RIBA Chartered Practice of sustainable architects delivering for projects across Cornwall and Devon.

Mrs Selley, Careers Lead, said: “It was a wonderful opportunity for all the students to work with real architects and receive invaluable encouragement from experts. They were keen and enthusiastic and should be very proud.”

The final designs will be on display at Plymouth University Architecture School.
