Year 10 Product Design at Falmouth

On Wednesday 19th April, 16 Year 10 students visited Falmouth University for a series of workshops run by the university’s Sustainable Product Design department.

The students had a tour around the workshops and were shown the different materials, techniques and equipment used on the course.  They then took part in a workshop where they worked in small groups to understand how to design for a specific user group; focusing particularly on impaired use of the hand.

They worked together to develop a product that would help that user to complete a certain task.  They were then tasked with presenting their idea to the rest of the group and the lecturer.

Mrs Lewis said: “It was an excellent day out which hopefully inspired some of our students to consider Sustainable Product Design in their future careers.”
