U14 County Netball 2017

Report from Team PE

On Saturday 18th November, our girls did the Academy and themselves proud when they finished 4th in the County!

There were 2 pools and the girls finished runners up to Penryn (only coming 2nd to them and winning all of our other games). This meant that they had to play against the winners of Pool A; Richard Lander.

Lander played some phenomenal netball; the pressure got to our girls slightly, with the result 13-3 to Richard Lander.  They then went onto play Truro School in the final and it was a total whitewash – Lander 1st, Truro School 2nd.

In the meantime, we faced Penryn again in the 3rd/4th playoffs – what a game it proved to be.  I have never seen our girls play with such grit and determination and after the first half, we were 4-1 down. However with some changes our girls went back out fighting.

The play was all ours and we had the momentum, Penryn heads were going down (despite their massive support following) and we came back even 6-6.  Unfortunately we made a couple of silly mistakes which meant that they turned the ball over on our centre pass.

The halves were only 7 minutes long and the girls knew that time was ticking.  Despite working their socks off we couldn’t break their centre pass and final score was 9-7 to Penryn.

I truly couldn’t be more proud of such a great bunch of girls who represented our Academy 100% in all areas of play, behaviour and sportsmanship.  Endless comments were received throughout the day about what a fab team they are by teachers, coaches, supporters and umpires alike.
