Those in Peril: Penrice Drama at HFC

On Monday 1st February, a selection of Year 8, 9 and 10 Drama students participated in a Drama Showcase at the Hall for Cornwall in Truro.

They spent the day watching a matinee performance, participating in a professional technical rehearsal and making final preparations for their performance of Those in Peril in the evening. This has been an ongoing project since October 2015, where students have worked once a week after school to prepare a short piece to be showcased.

Mr Tew explains: “The evening arrived and there was a wonderful buzz around the auditorium. Then Penrice’s turn came. Cameron Kearns stepped up to introduce the piece and they produced something magnificent – you could hear a pin drop as they held their audience completely captivated the entire time!”

“I am incredibly proud of all the students involved. This is the second year I have been involved in the event and each time we have produced something of a professional quality. Our students are consistently showing the rest of the county what Penrice are capable of when it comes to Drama. This was a brilliant opportunity for them to perform on stage in a professional environment and this performance was a great example of the power of Drama and the unique experiences it can offer students.”

“What will they produce next? We will just have to wait and see.”
