The Intermediate Maths Challenge

This week, 33 year 9, 10 and 11 students took the Intermediate Maths Challenge, testing their mathematical skills.

The challenge, run by the UK Mathematics Trust, is a paper with 25 multiple trust questions and students are  encouraged to think through answers rather than guess.

The top 40% of students nationally (about 500) receive a gold silver or bronze certificate and there is also a certificate for best in school. The top 40% are invited to take part in the next round – the Olympiad Paper – and high scorers may additionally be invited to the summer school at the University of Leeds.

Mrs Lewis, Maths Teacher, said: “The maths faculty are very impressed with these students volunteering to take up this difficult challenge. We’re excited to find out the results of this challenge in about 3 weeks’ time.”
