Ten Tors Training 2017

During the first weekend of March 2017, Penrice Academy students braved the elements on Dartmoor for Ten Tors Training.

The event was held over 2 days and included an overnight camp under canvas in Princetown. Over 200 students from around 16 different schools and other youth training organisations were present, all competing for space on the crowded camping field.

Mr Bailey explains: “The Penrice training was targeted at those pupils hoping to complete 35 and 45-mile routes in the Dartmoor Ten Tors Challenge held in early May. Hopefully the weather will be better – this weekend students had to cope with gale-force winds, driving rain and hail and very muddy conditions.”

“To their credit they all performed extremely well, showing resilience and determination beyond their years. This bodes well for the Challenge ahead, but in the meantime training continues with another excursion to Dartmoor in 2 weeks time.”
