Surfing at Perranporth On Friday 8th July, Miss James led a band of adventurous students out of the rainy greyness of St Austell into the sunny climes of Perranporth. Suntan lotion rather than raincoats were required as the group, aided by Mr Cardigan -Penrice’s answer to top surfer Russell Winter – and Mr Larham, enjoyed a two-hour surf lesson. Highlights were many, with several students standing up on a surfboard for the first time ever; others were within moments flying through the surf like hardened wave-warriors. As soon as the lesson finished, a delicious lunch was provided at the nearby Watering-Hole – sausage and chips being the order of the day from every student! Games on the beach followed before, reluctantly but very contentedly at the day’s events, the group left the sun behind to return to the cloud of St Austell. As one Year 7 so succinctly exclaimed: “It was awesome. Thanks, Miss James!” See more pictures in our gallery.
