Child Development

Child Development Year 9

In Unit 2, students will gain knowledge of the equipment needs of babies and young children and an understanding of the factors to be considered when choosing appropriate equipment to meet all of these needs. They will also gain knowledge of nutrition and hygiene practices and will be given the opportunity to evaluate dietary choices. Evaluation skills are transferable skills which would be of use in further studies in most areas.

Child Development Year 10

This course will develop your knowledge of children’s needs and patterns of development. Increase your understanding of how children can be and are provided with different forms of care to enable them to develop appropriately. You will develop critical thinking skills and your writing abilities through homework activities, case studies and end of topic exams. Assignments will also be completed throughout the course which will cover the assessment criteria set by the exam board.

Child Development Year 11

This course will develop your knowledge of children’s needs and patterns of development. Year 9 BTEC Children’s, Play, Learning and Development

This course will inspire and enthuse learners to consider a career in early years. Students will be given the opportunity to gain a broad knowledge and understanding of, and develop skills in, the early years sector, for example, of child development and using play to promote child development, this will also support progression to a more specialised level 3 vocational or academic course, such as in early years, health and social care or psychology, or an apprenticeship, giving students the potential opportunity to enter employment.
