Star Students – County Football

This academic year, Penrice Academy has had two boys selected for the Cornwall U14 Football squad as well as another six boys selected for the East Cornwall U14 Football Squad and the East Cornwall U15 Squad.

Jack Hooper, who plays for Charlestown U14s, and Rubin Wilson of Plymouth Argyle U14s, will both represent the County for Cornwall U14 and the East Cornwall U14 squad, alongside Aiden Lees of Truro City U14s, Josh Barden of Tregorrick FC U14s, Jenson Smith of Truro City U14s and Huey Campbell of Tregorrick FC U14s. All the boys have been a part of the successful double County Championship campaign, which saw the Penrice Academy School Football team retain the title in Year 8. James Evans and Bailey Smith, both of Truro City U15s and this season’s Year 10 School Team, will both represent the East Cornwall U15 squad.

Mr Jenkin, Director of Football at Penrice, said: “We are delighted for the boys and their County honours are well deserved after all the hard work and commitment they have shown representing Penrice and their various clubs”

All year groups train once a week and have fixtures every Wednesday throughout the Spring Term. All terms embark on their cup exploits in the next couple of weeks also, with the U14s looking to retain their title for a third year in succession.

“We are continually looking to develop and enhance our Football provision, both in terms of providing opportunities for boys and girls to participate in Football, develop as Footballers and also be successful and earn County honours like the eight boys have done.” (Mr Jenkin)
