Principal’s Blog – Saying Farewell

Last week was a busy week at Penrice with the first full week of exams already completed. I’m really impressed with the way our Year 11s have conducted themselves and have heard some really positive attitudes – I wish them all the best for the coming weeks.

It was also big week for Year 11 for other things too – last Monday their final assembly saw music, pictures, videos and speeches celebrating their time with us. I hope it was a fitting conclusion and one they’ll remember for a long time to come. You can watch a video of the highlights on our YouTube Channel. The Year 11 Yearbook is also available to order from the Finance Office.

Thursday saw our Creative Exhibition showcase all of our Year 11 work which is stunning to see. It’s often hard to forget the age of some of these artists as the work on display is of an unbelievable quality. You can see some pictures of the work in our online gallery.

We also welcomed a number of primary schools for art workshops focussing on Cornish heritage this week, starting with Mevagissey, which you can read about here. It’s always great to see our staff and our students being creative with local primary children.

It was an exceptional week for Sport. Our students are County Champions in Golf and on the Track, and on Friday our Year 7s combined passion for sport and charity with the final of their tournament. Read all about last week’s Sport in the Report from Team PE.

Last week also saw the final training day for our Trainees who have been outstanding throughout their placements here. I’m sure many of them will be missed – but I’m also sure we’ll see many of them again.

Our Orchestra performed in the Cornwall Music Hub Gala Concert at Hall For Cornwall on Friday – watch out for more on it this week.
