Principal’s Blog: Half Term

It has been the quickest seven weeks of my life! Penrice is a vibrant, diverse and totally enjoyable school to lead. I have been amazed at the pace, energy and dedication of the staff in the first part of this term.

The students too are open to trying a whole range of experiences. The latest visit to a haunted house with Miss Trerise did not scare them but they were instead enthused to be better at English. Pictures to come. The musicians continue to thrive and show the whole of Cornwall the talent we have. The Year 11 Art exhibition, which has been displayed proudly in our Exhibition Space all week, was simply outstanding. And the sport teams go from strength to strength, with some brilliant performances at Par this week.  TEAM PENRICE!

I will be attending the Year 11 Ball this evening. Many ex-students show up to see the latest lines in fashion, and it’s always great to see what they have been doing. Year 11 are so excited, which is just great to see and a real release from the exam pressures. I am sure the latest Year 11 will be a real credit to themselves and the school, as always. Watch out for the pictures on our website, on our Facebook and in the papers.

After half term, Curriculum Enrichment Week will dominate the run in to the summer holidays and lots of fantastic trips and activities have planned. Ever since I have been at the school, the memory Year 11 students leave with is often about the trips in Year 8 and pictures from those trips are always shown in the leaving assembly, often to laughter from the students. Staff are already planning the trips for next year.

I will also be welcoming the new Year 7 into school for two days which is always exciting for everyone involved.

Next week is huge for our younger years, with over 70 Year 7 and Year 8s filming a music video with the BBC, in the Rainforest Biome at The Eden Project. If you’re planning a visit on Monday or Tuesday, they’ll be the ones in the safari hats.

I hope you all have an excellent half term.
