Primary Science Day: Biology

On Wednesday 21st April, the Penrice Science Department welcomed 31 Gifted and Talented Year 5 students from local primaries for an activity day exploring Biology.

Students from Mevagissey, Pondhu, Carclaze, Mt Charles, Charlestown and Bishop Bronescombe were given the opportunity to use microscopes to view their own cheek cells as well as an array of other weird and wonderful creatures from the natural world. Using our amazing pond, they were also able to explore different habitats.

Science Teacher Mr Round said: “These Science Days continue to be great opportunities to showcase science at secondary school, to inspire future students of Penrice and to give the Year 5 students the opportunity to experience something different.”

“Id’ like to say a massive thank you to seven of our science leaders in Year 9 – Morgan Squire, Bella Nash, Meghan Jones, Rosie Brown, Myah Payton, Harrison Pramuk and Jack Burgess – for their help and for taking pictures, and to the Science Technicians who ensured the day ran smoothly.”
