Pirate FM Broadcast Live from Penrice

This afternoon we welcomed local Cornish radio station Pirate FM for an Outside Broadcast.

The event saw the broadcast team – including presenter Scott Temple – pitch up their mobile ‘studio’ just outside The Core for the day. Scott then broadcast his show as normal, including music, travel and weather, in between speaking with staff and students about life at Penrice Academy.

He heard from Maddie Wood, Deputy Head Girl, about being a Prefect and about what Penrice means to her, and some excited Year 7s about their first week. He was also treated to a performance from Carmen in Year 8, who sang her very own song originally written for the Cornwall School Games, and he spoke to Miss Seberry and Harvey from Year 7 about their work with Harvey the Therapy Dog.

Maddie said: “This was such a brilliant event and is exactly what Penrice is all about – opportunities and experiences outside of the classroom that you’ll never forget!”

Scott was so impressed with all the students he spoke to, calling them ‘polite, enthusiastic and great fun!’

A big thank you to Maddie for her help in organising the day and to Pirate FM for coming.

If you missed the broadcast, you can hear an audio montage of some of the recordings from the day below.
