Penrice Votes: Nick Clegg Visit

On Monday 20th April, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg visited Penrice Academy to speak to staff about issues facing the public sector and discuss education.

The visit was in support of the election campaign from Saint Austell and Newquay candidate, Stephen Gilbert, in the run up to next month’s General Election. Mr Clegg spent time with a number of members of staff and spoke to Head Students Billie and Toby about their chosen subjects and their futures.

Billie said the opportunity to meet the Deputy Prime Minister was a ‘rewarding one’: “He asked us about our plans for further education and it was fascinating to hear him discuss and debate with the teachers present and some of the Liberal Democrat policies. Overall he came across very well and appeared genuinely interested in us!”
