Penrice Plus: Week Two Thursday 6th October saw the second week of Penrice Plus – a new Extra Curricular initiative which gives every student in the school the chance to take part in a huge array of clubs and activities. For an hour each week students can join staff to experience anything from additional study time and learning to making music, creating art, learning languages and cooking up tasty treats. Our Student Media Team – Sam, Ethan and Adam – are doing an excellent job capturing Penrice Plus with pictures and video. This week they headed to the field to see football in action, saw cakes and Halloween art in the technology corridor, interviewed a Year 7 band and dropped in on Crochet with Mrs Malcolm.Mrs Malcolm explained that Crochet has real therapeutic qualities: “It is a proven scientific fact that an activity like crochet helps focus the brain away from the worries and pressures of life. This in turn improves the quality of our inner life and keeps mental health intact. Not only that, crochet is creative and with modern vintage fashions, it might even keep you ahead of the trend!”“It’s great to see it appeals to girls and boys alike, as well as across all year groups. We’ve started the a basic slip knot, chain stitch, slip stitch and treble crochet and I’m positive that next session we’ll have some granny triangle bunting to festoon somewhere at Penrice!”See more pictures from the first two weeks of Penrice Plus in our gallery.Read more about Penrice Plus here.
