Penrice Golfers County Champions!

On Monday 16th May, three boys from Year 7 became County Champions by winning the Cornwall Schools Golf Championship held at their home club of St Austell.

Jowan Conibear-Trathen, Jack Warren and Alec Nile all performed fantastically, coming in level par or under to record a total score 82 points to win the competition from Pool Academy by one point.

It was an extremely good day for Penrice Golfers, as we entered three teams to the competition, and the team of Ricardo Sanchez, Zac Rodgers and Ewan Warren came third with a final total score of 80. The third team entered consisted of Marcus Wilkins, Bradley Varcoe and Oliver Watson and came fourth, also with 80 points. This was out of 22 teams to enter the competition.

Mr Jenkin said of the day; “We are delighted with the achievement of all the Golfers, particularly the Year 7 boys as this was their first County Competition and to win it is fantastic. All of the boys deserve credit and their performance in the Championship is reward for all the hours they spend at the Golf Club all year round working on and improving their game.”

It was brilliant for them to compete, perform so well and, in the case of the Year 7s, to win it at their home club of St Austell in front of parents and members of the club”
