Penrice at Pirate HQ

Zip it, Block it, Flag it! (Part Two)

On Thursday 5th May, nine students from Year 8 were invited to Pirate FM HQ in Redruth for an exclusive behind the scenes tour, to experience recording in a studio and have a chance to interview Pirate’s Neil Caddy on life as a radio presenter.

The visit was part of a prize awarded for three of the most impressive adverts – as judged by the Pirate Team – following last term’s eSafety Day aboard the Media Bus. Students were tasked with creating adverts to raise awareness of the dangers that come with using the internet and the adverts were then played to students of all ages in assembly.

Paul from Pirate FM told the students: “You really impressed us on the day we visited, and you’ve really impressed us today with your participation, your questions and your fantastic understanding of eSafety. It’s now your job to pass on what you’ve learnt to your peers and I’m sure you’ll do a fantastic job!”
