Penrice Artists and the Conflict Project

On Tuesday 19th January, Year 10 artists visited Cornwall’s Regimental Museum to take inspiration from the wide range of artefacts the museum has to offer, as part of their project on Conflict.

The students used different drawing techniques over two hours to observe, document and create art inspired by what they found – weapons, armour and even a piece of the Berlin Wall, complete with graffiti.

Mrs Elliot said: “This is a brilliant way for students to tackle their observational tasks outside of the classroom and learn about history at the same time. There’s so much to see at the museum and they were inspired by what they saw, leading to pieces of art they can be really proud of.”

The museum staff were so impressed with the students’ work that they’ve asked for some of the finished pieces to be displayed by the entrance of the museum in the weeks to come.
