Meet Kea the Orang-Utan

Meet Kea – the newest member of Mr Buse’s Year 10 Geography class.

Students over the past few weeks have been raising money to adopt a rainforest animal in order to raise awareness for conservation and the negative impact of deforestation, which they have been learning about in class. Kea is a Sumatran Orang-Utan; unfortunately numbers of wild Orang-Utan have fallen by up to 50% across the globe due to habitat loss for palm oil plantations.

Mr Buse said: “These budding young Geographers have taken a keen interest in the Sumatran Rainforest and have enjoyed learning about the wildlife so much they have made a tremendous effort to raise the money and adopt one of the most endangered monkeys in the world. Well done!”
