Madi and Ashley: Future Chef Finalists!

Congratulations to Ashley Gilder, Year 10, and Madi Cole, Year 9, who are through to the County Finals of Future Chef 2015, after taking part in the latest round at St Austell College on Wednesday. They took 1st and 2nd place on the night, leaving judges really impressed.

Madi, who got 1st place with her cooked parmesan and herb crusted cod, crushed new potatoes and orange salad – followed by lemon posset raspberry coulis and gingerbread biscuit – said: “I’m really surprised that I got through; I was so excited and amazed that I got to this stage alone and can’t wait.”

Ashley, who got second place, cooked pan fried hake on golden beetroot and radish with crème fraiche followed by an autumn Eton mess with shortbread biscuits.

Mrs Knowles said: “We are extremely proud of both students who have worked hard to develop and improve their dishes for the Local Final. They produced exquisite dishes that showed technical ability and a great understanding of local produce. They have both shown real commitment and maturity and are already preparing for the final.”
