Inside Textiles Club

On Mondays after school the Technology corridor is home to the laughter, fun and creativity that comes with Textiles Club.

Textiles Club is for those in Year 8 who wish to make items and try out new ideas different to those on the curriculum. The students can decide what projects they might like to do and there are opportunities to extend knowledge gained in lessons time as well. The club format changes every year and past projects have included a sponsored project to make dresses for Girls in Africa and the Penrice Banner used at Truro Cathedral schools service, which now hangs in the Academy Hall.

Kayleigh from Year 8 said: “I love being a part of this club as we’re free to be as creative as we like and it’s fun and really relaxed. We can also use materials given to us so anyone can join in!”

The students have been busy making mini bean bags to juggle with (pictured) and will be setting to work making Christmas Stockings in time for the holidays.

Watch out for the finished stockings coming soon!
