Harvey Meets the BBC

On Wednesday 3rd June we welcomed BBC Radio Cornwall Journalist Karen Stuart, to meet our resident Therapy Dog, Harvey. Karen spoke to Mrs Adams, Miss Seberry and Ethan James from Year 7, Harry Boardman from Year 8 and Kieran Smith from Year 9 about how Harvey is settling in to his new job at Penrice Academy.

Laura Seberry, Harvey’s owner and trainer and Learning Supervisor, said: “The interview was a brilliant experience for the boys. As they explained, Harvey is a great confidence booster and this was so clear in the interview! Their answers were really good.”

Kieran told of how it was a bit weird having a dog in school at first but now the first thing he does as he comes into school is try to ‘spot Harvey’! Harry spoke of how he thought Harvey being in school is a brilliant idea and explained how he can really help others feel happy.

Ethan told the BBC about his own dog, and what impact Harvey has had on day to day life at Penrice: “He makes me feel comfortable and confident to read as he just sits and listens,” he said. “It’s great seeing him around the school. Whenever I see him, I just can’t help but smile!”

Miss Seberry continued: “The boys all spoke really positively of Harvey and did such a great job at answering the questions asked on the spot. I was very proud of them!”
